Bandars - Monkeys
Just for Fun Bandars of Vrindavan is a couple of minutes of footage of the wild Rhesus monkeys that inhabit so much of Vrindavan (Vrindaban) India. Bandar is one of the names for monkeys in Hindi. This footage was taken at Baba Neeb Karoli Ashram Parikrama Marg in 2001. We've all been amazed at their antics as they leap through the trees in the center courtyard. They are a constant part of life at Maharajji's ashram and actually everywhere. If you don't fasten your "monkey lock" you will suddenly find them bursting into your rom to grab bananas or oranges or anything that might look edible. These monkeys will climb right over your back to grab your sunglasses..., and don't ever leave anything outside, even if you go into your room for just a few seconds, because it will be gone very quickly. The Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta), often called the Rhesus Monkey, is one of the best known species of Old World monkeys.
